The World Health Organization estimates a projected shortfall of 18 million health workers by 2030. Such a shortage will put millions of lives at risk globally, but low and middle-income countries will face the most severe outcomes. According to Kidsor.org, surgery is the answer to the global health crisis and universal health coverage – but this could take decades to achieve.
